Painting

I am still painting from time to time... this is my second attempt at grisaille. And, really, my second 'painting' period, aside from a couple of not-at-all-finished daubs on canvas board.

Photo catch up 2

Photo catch up 1

I still really can't seem to find time to deal with things on an event-by-event basis here, so I'm just going to post a couple more random photo blasts from over the last month or two. Umm... enjoy!

This poor guy was cuckolded by James Franco. He spent ages telling us about it. We don't know him. It was sad.

Montauk Again!

Dim came out to see me for reading week, and we went to Montauk again. Yay! This trip deserves many more words, but one of the ironic consequences of being in a really intense writing program is you tend to get worded-out. Suffice to say, it was very lovely, and we got to see a whole different side of things—many sides, even—as the guesthouse manager grew up there and gave us an insider's tour of the area. (He also used to work at one of the hotels as a teen, and would end up driving people to De Kooning's parties... I thought that was pretty cool.)

Changing at Jamaica. Me being my quintessentially un-photogenic (but very happy!) self.

supplies...

Taken from the bed in the suite. The entire room smells like the beach.
My belated birthday present—cast from vintage French art deco molds. Such an impressive find, for a boy ;)

It was windy.
AND my belated Valentine's present! Also French. My inner magpie was ecstatic. (But really, soo pretty!)

A particularly impressive butchering of Dim's name...
This area used to be a cold war military no-go zone.

For Russians, I assume.
Remnants of military shadiness.

This, should be its own post. Montauk Radar Tower—target of every kind of conspiracy theory ever dreamed up, from aliens to mind control to time travel.
hmm...

Just so amazing. When the wind blows through those vents(?) the whole building sings. Spookiest harmonies. Had to scramble over a fence, but it was worth it.

This is a real bluebird! They are iridescent! Who knew?? The manager/guide was really excited to see him—apparently they haven't been around much for years.
Montauk Lighthouse
This is on the Andy Warhol Reserve: many acres that used to belong to Andy, and now belong to the CEO of J Crew.
There have probably been some very nice bottles of wine enjoyed on this beach.
Couldn't resist :)
Deer tracks in the sandy paths.
We believe this was Warhol's house.

Industrial port

Not sure what area this is, actually, but local kids used to dive off this pier back in the day.

Moonlight like sunlight.
